Funny you mention "Days Between."

I too think the lyrics are brilliant, BUT I don't care for the tune! It just strikes me as clunky and slow, and not very conducive to what at the time wass Jerry's fading and creaky voice. I have to admit, i'm highly critical of most of the band's output from "Built to Last"--one of the cheesiest and simply most ridiculous albums ever made, IMHO-- to the end...which is probably sour grapes on my part b/c I was also just so ticked off that the whole "scene" had gotten so out of hand and likely hastened Jerry's exit from this mortal coil.

Damn, I miss that guy!

Quit diverting the thread Dr.!! This is about Scarlet>Fire NOT English class, yech! ; )
I've always been partial to the 12/31/78 version. Perhaps overlooked as the show itself isn't as great as the occasion demanded, but the S>F has the slow shuffly pace I like and Jerry's initial introduction of the Fire theme, complete with a dissonant note and re-start never fails to bring a smile. The aforementioned 10/16/77 show also has a similar 'feel' about it.Heck just download them all and decide fer yersef.(mangled English for Grendels benefit.)

Also a major Scarlet-Fire lover. I feel it is the band's defining song(s). Love many versions already mentioned.
One not mentioned that is truly outstanding, as there are many separate jam vignettes throughout is: New Haven,CT - 4-23-83.
Archive doesn't have the show though, and I would love to upgrade my copy, if I could find one.

Enjoy them all...

Check out DP18 from 2/78. its got a great version with a solid transition from S->F. I play percussion and have jammed along to this version many many times...
